media entry #1 (general views)

Media has its ways of affecting almost every aspect of our lives, even the tiny ones! most of these changes that media has been the cause of are barely noticed. generally speaking, humans are copy cats, and i have seen friends re-act scenes from a movie or show numerous times, sometimes not even realizing it. media can change our opinions and also strike up certain feelings. these feelings that are provoked may not necessarily be needed, since the media can always be affected by stereotypes and can represent the wrong images of certain places and people. whenever i visit the states, many people ask me if we ride camels to school here in Kuwait. i reply with a simple dirty look, point at my phone, clothes, and Ipod, and ask them what THEY think. some people proceed to ask if people live in tents where i come from. if they only knew that people in kuwait were spoiled with money and each house here could make up for the size of a small hotel. the most common question people ask nowadays, is when they ask, " is it safe down there?". the people who end up asking theses questions are greatly affected by media, for if you ask them to back up their claims about kuwait being unsafe, they would follow their question with a rhetorical question saying, " well isn't there a war down there? DUH". (and this is when i begin to laugh at how affected they are by the media and how they may believe that terrorists take refuge in every arab country with the support of the government.
